
Alex York
Alex York is a principal and claims consultant working in Milliman's Casualty Claims & Underwriting Practice. Alex specializes in black lung reserving, black lung claims management, and workers' compensation claims management.
Experience
Prior to joining Milliman, Alex’s area of expertise focused on workers’ compensation, with over a decade of experience managing, supervising, and handling black lung and traumatic workers’ compensation claims. His experience includes supervision of legal adjusters and post-awarded claims adjusters, specializing in coal-related and pre-lit claims from all industries. He also develops strategies for resolution and devises cost-saving measures to offset or reduce federal black lung obligations. Since joining Milliman, Alex has been responsible for reviewing black lung claim practices at self-insureds and insurance companies, estimating case reserves, working with self-insureds on collateral requirements set by the Department of Labor, assisting in efforts to initiate legislative changes related to black lung claims administration, drafting procedures, and advising clients with regard to the black lung regulatory environment. Alex estimates liabilities associated with future payments of black lung claim obligations for both insurers and self-insureds.
