James Johnston
James Johnston is an associate actuarial consultant in Milliman’s Dublin office. James re-joined the Dublin practice in 2022 after completing a placement with the firm in 2020.
Experience
James’s experience is primarily in the life assurance field in both the Irish domestic and cross-border life assurance markets.
He has worked on a variety of portfolios, including unit-linked business and non-linked business.
His expertise includes valuation and financial reporting for Solvency II and non-Solvency II basis, maintaining and validating actuarial modelling systems, and other consulting work.
James has extensive actuarial modelling experience. He has been involved in the development, ongoing maintenance, and validation of actuarial models in MS Excel, Milliman Mind, and Python.
As part of an outsourced actuarial team, James has been involved in several projects, including data validation and actuarial model developments to improve efficiency during quarterly valuation periods.
He is also keeping up to date on developments in the areas of actuarial modelling and Solvency II and is currently sitting his professional exams.
